There are 2 stations: "Bahram Gur" and "Alley of Martyrs". The distance between the stations is 455 meters. In this funicular with only 2 carriages, the carriages moved at a speed of 2.5 meters per second and reached from one station to another in 4 minutes. The interval between the cars was 10 minutes, and the fare was 20 kopecks. The funicular was capable of carrying an average of 2,000 passengers per hour.

Repair works and restoration

The Baku funicular has been repaired several times at different times.

It was closed in the late 1980s on the grounds that it was in a state of disrepair and reopened in late 2001. The Baku funicular was overhauled twice in 2001 and 2007. After the 2007 repairs, the noise generated during the movement of the carriages was minimized. In April 2011, the repairs were stopped again. It was put into operation on May 23, 2012 after major overhaul and reconstruction. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony
